It's me!

I have been composing my whole life.  I graduated from Sonoma State University on May 31st, 2003 with my music degree! Although I play piano and sing, my emphasis is composition. I currently produce a dance / trance band & still compose classical and game soundtrack tunes as well as pop songs. I recently quit my day job and now compose full time so please contact me if you need my services as a composer, producer, recording artist, or orchestrator, etc.

Piano History

When I was young, I was fascinated by pianos. I composed my first short piece when I was 10. I've played and composed on the piano ever since then, but I am basically self taught. Discounting a year of private lessons when I was 13, college is the first place I'd ever been formally trained in music. I quit my lessons because I didn't want to practice... (I know, I know...) It's just that I wanted to play my own pieces, not "dead guys' stuff!" But my love for the instrument did not die; I begged my parents for my own piano when I was a freshman in high school and got one. It was then that I began to compose seriously, when I composed my first sonata. I have composed 5 sonatas as well as numerous etudes. Those old pieces only exist as recording, which can be found in the audio section! And I'm still at it!  And now I love and appreciate "dead guys' stuff!"

MIDI History

During High School, I was introduced to MIDI files.  Granted, I wasn't really a computer person. But I did understand that MIDI enabled me to enter my compositions into the computer, play them back, save them, and print out the sheet music! I could also find files of songs I liked and print out that music! I began sequencing by hand and realized it was time to get a MIDI keyboard, which would allow me to play in my music with ease and dynamics. So, a year before I graduated High School, I received my Peavey keyboard as a generous Christmas gift. Since then, I have studied MIDI, taken MIDI courses at SSU, and learned from first-hand experience. Thus far, I have composed around fifty original MIDI files and sequenced some of my piano compositions as well as other composers' works. I use MIDI for composition and musical score; I usually compose with real instruments in mind and would almost always prefer to perform my music live. There are some recordings in the Audio section!

Musical Goals

1. To keep composing professionally - my own productions, possibly for video games, film scores or ensembles. I have already written the soundtrack to Hardwood Hearts - check out www.hardwoodhearts.com . CURRENTLY WRITING FOR AN INDEPENDENT GAME - STARTED MY OWN COMPANY, WWW.WALZMUSIC.COM .
2.
To keep singing professionally. TRAINING AS A COUNTER TENOR PRESENTLY WITH CHRIS FRITZSCHE FROM CHANTICLEER.
3. To produce a professional CD - release was July 10th, 2004! DONE
4. To produce a CD of acoustic versions of my compositions.
WORKING ON IT
5. To teach music eventually after getting my masters degree.

Other Somewhat-Related Interests

Me    My interests are mostly based in the arts. My first love was drama. I've taken seven years of theater classes, some ACT (American Conservatory Theater) summer training, and been in several plays and musicals.  Some examples are Big River, Night of January 16th, Once on this Island, The Real Inspector Hound, and The Importance of Being Earnest. Theater taught me to express myself without fear.

I love web authoring. I have a left brain that enjoys learning code and using it to present things I enjoy! I work as a web consultant in my spare time. I strongly believe in sharing web resources, as you will find in my links. At the same time, I am trying to integrate original work as much as possible into this site and avoid public domain items.

One of my greatest passions has always been games. I've played all kinds of games since I was born: board games, games on paper, two player sports, and especially video games. I love to be competitive. My favorite video games include Role-playing, strategy, and fighting games. I have a Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation and once had Atari, Nintendo, Gameboy, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and Sega CD.
